Female blogger who accused government of corruption dies in car bomb attack

A prominent journalist and blogger in Malta, Daphne Caruana Galizia, who made repeated and detailed corruption allegations against Prime Minister Joseph Muscat’s inner circle, was killed by a car bomb today. The assasination was just a week after Servers hosting Galizia's website suffered 'unprecedented' DDoS attack. Prime Minister Muscat has condemned the killing, describing it as a “barbaric” act and ordered security services to devote maximum resources to bringing those responsible to justice.   “What happened today is unacceptable on various levels. Today is a black day for our democracy and our freedom of speech,” he told reporters.   Caruana Galizia, 53, died mid-afternoon, close to her home in Bidnija in the north of the island. The force of the blast reduced her car to pieces and catapulted the journalist’s body into a nearby field. Governor Nyesom Ezenwo Wike on Monday, toured training facilities of Real Madrid Football Club as part of the process of setting up of a Real Madrid Academy in Rivers State.The governor met with officials of the club,  Football Megastar, Cristano Ronaldo  and Real Madrid Captain, Sergio Ramos where further modalities were discussed.   Governor Wike was accompanied on the inspection tour by the State Commissioner of Sports, Mr Boma Iyaye and Former Nigerian International, Adokiye Amiesimaka. Cape Town – A South African photojournalist was kidnapped in Syria earlier this week and has still not been heard from, the disaster relief organisation Gift of the Givers said on Saturday. Founder Imtiaz Sooliman said armed men took Johannesburg journalist Shiraaz Mohamed to an unknown place after stopping their convoy on Aljamiliye Road on Tuesday afternoon.

Stolen baby found alive in South Carolina 18 years on

Kamiyah Mobley, who was abducted in July 1998, was found after a tip. Authorities in Walterboro, South Carolina, have charged Gloria Williams, 51, with kidnapping. Ms Mobley was living under another name and believed Ms Williams to be her mother. The biological family have been notified of the news. Jacksonville Sherriff's Office said DNA tests had confirmed Ms Mobley's identity. She appeared in good health, a "normal 18-year-old woman", it said. The office said it had acted on 2,500 tips since the abduction and received one last year to @MissingKids that eventually broke the case.

 The Presidency says it has completed the selection process for the employment of 200,000 graduates for the N-Power programme designed to engage 500,000. The Senior Special Assistant to the Vice President on Media and Publicity, Laolu Akande, disclosed this in a statement on Thursday.  He said the "official engagement" of those selected was now awaiting the completion of BVN verification so that they would be paid directly.  On how the selection was done, he said: “Presidency officials collaborated actively with the Ministries of Agriculture and Health and other government agencies all through the process.  There were no foreign consultants involved, nor is one needed. The Canadian government is seeking a stronger partnership with the Nigerian government to reduce the burden of child marriage in Africa’s most populous nation. The Canadian High Commissioner to Nigeria, Mr Christopher Thornley, who spoke at a forum in Abuja on the growing international concern about child marriage, pointed out that Nigeria had more cases of child brides in sub-Saharan Africa. He also explained the commitment of the Canadian government to assisting Nigeria’s efforts at reducing the burden of child marriage. A woman is accused of spitting at a man while she clutches a toddler after being confronted for allegedly parking in HIS driveway. Startling footage of the incident has been uploaded to YouTube and shows the pair in an argument that gets increasingly heated.
